Tithe or Not to Tithe…
So this is a topic that people don’t like to talk about–but before you reach for the delete button, let’s examine this matter with our hearts and not our heads.
One day the LORD gave me an amazing revelation of scripture regarding the Widow’s Mite story. HE said that in this story HE is actually observing the action of the rich and the poor widow. HE sees her putting in two mites–her LAST TWO MITES…then the LORD revealed to me that, HE did not stop the widow from giving her LAST mite. HE could have prevented it, but HE allowed her to trust GOD. To stop her would have sent her back into the direction of trusting in “mammon” and not GOD.
Luke 21:1-4 (NKJV): And HE looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, 2 and HE saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. 3 So HE said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; 4 for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for GOD, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
When we tithe whose money are we giving anyway? Well the Bible says–it ALL BELONGS TO GOD–every penny…
Job 41:11 (KJV): Who hath prevented ME, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is MINE.
Romans 11:35 (NKJV): “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?”
Haggai 2:8 (NKJV): ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.
What does the Bible say about giving?
Well in Luke 6:38 (NKJV) It says: Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
GOD, HIMSELF gives a great example of giving in John 3:16 (NKJV): For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life. The FATHER held nothing back and gave HIS absolute best as an example of not withholding your gifts when HE presented JESUS as a sin substitution.
Give what to who? The Bible says this: James 1:27 (NKJV): Pure and undefiled religion before GOD and the FATHER is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
Isaiah 10:2 (NKJV): 2 To rob the needy of justice, And to take what is right from the poor of MY people, That widows may be their prey, And that they may rob the fatherless.
Psalm 82:3 (NKJV): Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
The Tithe is a “tenth” of all that belongs to GOD in the first place given to you from HIM to bless others–the word “tithe” literally means “tenth”.
What happens when you withhold giving the “tithe” OR “tenth” of all that actually belongs to GOD? You literally are withholding money from GOD… Check out passage Matthew 25:37-43:
Matthew 25:37-43 (NKJV): 37 “Then the righteous will answer HIM, saying, ‘LORD, when did we see YOU hungry and feed YOU, or thirsty and give YOU drink? 38 When did we see YOU a stranger and take YOU in, or naked and clothe YOU?39 Or when did we see YOU sick, or in prison, and come to YOU?’40 And the KING will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these MY brethren, you did it to ME.’ 41 “Then HE will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from ME, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave ME no food; I was thirsty and you gave ME no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take ME in, naked and you did not clothe ME, sick and in prison and you did not visit ME.’
Then we find that GOD has a few choice words about people who withhold money due to greediness:
Luke 16:13-15 (NKJV): “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve GOD and mammon.”
1 Timothy 6:10 (NKJV): For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Now here is a word I received from the LORD on this matter on August 16, 2017:
I am a Great GOD WHO gives abundantly. If I ask MY children to give back that which was MINE in the first place, why should they be reluctant? It was never theirs at all…
All belongs to GOD. I give abundantly. I ask only a portion for widows and orphans, the fatherless and those without husbands. This is the work of GOD given to men to care for the less fortunate, to provide sustenance to the needy, to give that which was never yours in the first place to care for others through abundance from above.
Matthew 10:8 (NKJV): Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Another time I was praying to the LORD about personal finances–and the LORD said to me HE would provide me with “oblations”–well people–I had to look up the word “oblations” I didn’t have a clue what in the world that meant–so the LORD was saying HE would provide not just with funds, but with money to give to HIM–which is oblations.
